In 2016, hurricanes delivered storm surges to Manasota Key, causing most its beach to erode. Many homes were condemned, and businesses closed.
Charlotte County and Sarasota County have joined forces to restore the beaches.
The project will extend for over 4.4 miles across the Sarasota County / Charlotte County line south to the Stump Pass Beach State Park.
They will discharge 1,009,000 cubic yards of beach compatible sand inclusive of the design beach, advance nourishment, equilibrium template, construction tolerance and tapers to restore the critically eroding shoreline of Manasota Key.
Project begins Winter 2019!
